GCS - Feature Match - Ben Mcdowell V. Brandon Shea



Brandon Shea and Ben Mcdowell both are new to the Grandpa’s Championship Series tournaments, but both are long time duelists. Mainly being sidetracted by working, they were unable to aquire enough points to qualify for the championship. Now both duelist stand in the semi-finals, hoping to win their way into the Finals! Brandon Shea is playing his inzektor deck that he used to defeat Cody Sherman’s Dark World deck in the first round. Ben Mcdowell is using his Watt Deck, which he used to defeat Dustin Domdera and his Grandsoil Psychics in the preliminary round to see who would be the 8th seed into the tournament, and then to defeat Uy Tu and his Mono-Mermail deck. Ben is playing a deck he had never played before today, and with that note he also has no Extra Deck, and no Side Deck to help him today. He is going all out in this tournament!

Ben starts the duel off with Pot of Duality. He reveals Wabboku, Threatening Roar, and Wattpeaseant. He chooses Threatening Roar. He then sets a monster and a spell or trap card and passes his turn.

Brandon summons Inzektor Centipede, and activates Foolish Burial. He uses it to send Inzektor Hornet to the Graveyard. He activates Centipede’s effect to equip it with the Hornet. He uses Hornet’s effect to target and destroy Ben’s set card, but Ben responds with The Threatening Roar he got off Pot of Duality. Brandon had forgotten what it was. With Centipede’s effect, Brandon adds Inzektor Dragonfly to his hand, and sets a card face-down.

Ben starts his turn off with Thunder Sea Horse. Using it’s effect he adds two more Thunder Sea Horse to his hand. He then summons Wattgiraffe. Brandon responds with Compulsory Evacuation Device to return it to his hand. Ben flip summons Watt Dragonfly and has it attack Inzektor Centipede.

Life Points: Ben: 7300/Brandon: 8000

With Wattdragonfly’s effect, Ben Special Summons Wattcobra from his deck, and has it attack Brandon directly for 1000. Using its effect, Ben adds Wattpeasant to his hand.

Life Points: Ben: 7300/Brandon: 7000

Ben sets three cards face-down and ends his turn. Brandon draws and has Inzektor Centipede attack Wattcobra, but Ben responds with Wabboku to prevent damage to his life points, and his monster! Brandon sets a monster and passes his turn.

Ben activates his second Thunder Sea Horse’s effect, this time he adds two Wattgiraffes from his deck to his hand. He summons one of them, and has it attack Brandon Directly. With this, Ben prevents Brandon from activating any card effects until the End Phase. Ben proceeds to have Wattcobra attack Brandon directly, and adds another Wattpeasant from his deck to his hand. He sets a card face-down and ends his turn.

Life Points: Ben: 7300/Brandon: 4800

Brandon activates Inzektor Centipede’s effect to equip it with Inzektor Hornet. Ben responds to this with Macro Cosmos, preventing Inzektor Hornet from activating it’s effect. Beandon flip summons his Mystic Tomato and Normal Summons Inzektor Hopper from his hand. Brandon enters his Battle Phase, and Ben responds with Threatening Roar. Brandon sets a card and passes his turn.

Ben activates his last Thunder Sea Horse, and adds two Wattcobra to his hand. He summons his WattPeasant and has Wattgiraffe attack directly to prevent Brandon from activating card effects. Ben then has WattCobra and WattPeasant. Using Wattpeasant’s effect, Ben banishes Inzektor Centipede.

Life Points: Ben: 7300/Brandon: 1700

Brandon decides to concede the match at this point; knowing he will not be able to come back from the position Ben put him in.

Brandon starts off the second game, and he starts off the same way Ben started off the first game. He activates Pot of Duality! He reveals Heavy Storm, Inzektor Ladybug, and Card Trooper. He chooses the ladybug and activates Prohibition! He declares Wattcobra, preventing Ben from using his Wattcobras as long as it is on the field. He summons Inzektor Hopper, and sets two cards facedown before passing his turn.

Ben also plays Pot of Duality, reveals two Wattcobras and a Macro Cosmos. He laughs and says he obviously is picking Macro Cosmos! He sets a monster and three face-down cards. He goes to his End Phase, and Brandon responds with Royal Decree preventing Ben from using his trap card, including Macro Cosmos!

Brandon has his Inzektor Hopper attack Ben’s set monster, which is Wattdragonfly. Ben uses it’s effect to special summon Wattgiraffe in attack positon. Ben draws and has Wattgiraffe attack directly and passes his turn.

Life Points: Ben:8000/Brandon: 6800

Brandon has Inzektor Hopper attack wattgiraffe, and sets a monster before ending his turn.

Life Points: Ben: 7500/Brandon: 6800

Ben activates Dark Hole, destroying Brandon’s Inzektor Hopper and set Ryko, Lightsworn Hunter. He activates Monster Reborn on Wattdragonfly and has it attack Brandon directly.

Life Points: Ben: 7500/Brandon: 5900

Brandon summons Armageddon Knight, using it’s effect to send Inzektor Hornet to the Graveyard. He then activates Monster Reborn on Inzektor Hornet, uses it’s effect to equip Hopper with Hornet, and has Armageddon knight attack Wattdragonfly.

Life Points: Ben: 7000/Brandon: 5900

Ben activates Wattdragonfly’s effect to special summon another one, which Brandon destroys with an attack from Inzektor Hopper, and Ben summons his third Wattdragonfly. During his second Main Phase, Brandon activates Inzektor Hornet’s effect to destroy the last Wattdragonfly. Ben special summons a WattPeasant with its effect. Brandon ends his turn.

Ben summons Cardcar D, and activates it’s effect to draw two cards from his deck, and end his turn. Brandon draws and activates Inzektor Hopper’s effect to equip it with Inzektor Hornet. He uses Hornet’s effect to destroy Wattpeasant. He then attacks Ben directly with Hopper and Armageddon knight for 3100!

Life Points: Ben: 3900/Brandon: 5900

Brandon overlays his two monsters to Xyz Summon Abyss Dweller. Ben starts his turn off with Thunder Sea Horse, activating it’s effect to add two more Thunder Sea Horse to his hand. He then activates Pot of Duality, revealing Mystical Space Typhoon, Wattpeasant, and Threatening Roar. He adds his Mystical Space Typhoon to his hand. He sets two cards face-down, and summons his second Cardcar D. He activates it’s its effect to draw two cards and end his turn.

Brandon summons Inzektor Dragonfly to the field, and activate it’s effect to equip it with Inzektor Hornet in his Graveyard. Ben responds with Macro Cosmos, and then responds to his own card effect with Mystical Space Typhoon, targeting Royal Decree. Brandon responds to Ben’s Mystical Space Typhoon with a Mystical Space Typhoon of his own from his hand, sending Macro Cosmos to the graveyard, and his Royal Decree.

Brandon activates Inzektor Hornet’s effect to destroy one of Ben’s set cards, which is Fiendish Chain, which he chains to the effect, targeting Inzektor Dragonfly, but Brandon forgets that Inzektor Hornet is destroying Fiendish Chain, and will still get to resolve the effect of Inzektor Dragonfly, and responds to Fiendish Chain with his set Mystical Space Typhoon!

Brandon activates Inzektor Dragonfly’s effect to Special Summon Inzektor Centipede from his deck. He activates Centipede’s effect to equip it with Inzektor Hornet, which he uses Hornet’s effect to destroy another one of Ben’s set cards, this time it is Mirror Force! Brandon adds Inzektor Sword – Zektcalliber to his hand, and equips it to Inzektor Dragonfly. Brandon preparing for an assault on Ben’s Life Points for game enters his battle Phase to find Ben’s Threatening Roar once again! He ends his turn.

Ben activates Thunder Sea Horse’s effect to add two Watt Giraffe to his hand. He summons one of them, and has it attack Brandon directly for 1200! He sets a card face-down and ends his turn.

Life Points: Ben: 3900/Brandon: 4700

Brandon activates Inzektor Centipede’s effect to equip it with Inzektor Hornet, and uses Hornet’s effect to destroy Ben’s new set card – Threatening Roar, which Ben responds with. No attacking this turn either for Brandon Shea! Brandon adds Inzektor Sword – Zektcaliber to his hand with Centipede’s effect. Next Brandon activates Inzektor Dragonfly’s effect to equip it with Inzektor Hornet. He uses Inzektor Hornet’s effect to destroy his own Inzektor Sword – Zektcaliber, allowing him to add Inzektor Hornet back to his hand, and activate the effect of Inzektor Dragonfly twice, special summoning Inzektor Centipede and Inzektor Hopper.

Next Brandon actviats his new Inzektor Centipede’s effect to equip it with Inzektor Ladybug in his hand (that he added during the First Turn with Pot of Duality to his hand), and uses Ladybug’s effect to Make Inzektor Centipede Level 4, and add another Inzektor Ladybug to his hand.

Next he activates Inzektor Hopper’s effect to equip it with Inzektor Ladybug, and uses Ladybug’s effect to increase the level of Brandon’s other Inzektor Centipede by 1. He overlays his Two Inzektor Centipede and his Inzektor Hopper to Xyz Summon Number 16: Shock Master.

Brandon equips Inzektor Dragonfly with the Inzektor Sword – Zektcaliber in his hand, and activates Number 16: Shock Master’s effect, declaring Monster Effects by detaching an Inzektor Centipede.

Ben summons Watt Giraffe, and has it and his other one attack directly, since Wattgiraffe ‘s ability to attack directly is a continuous effect, it is unable to be stopped by Shock Master, however the ability to prevent Brandon from activating effect is prevented from activating.

Life Points – Ben: 3900/Brandon: 2300

Ben sets two cards face-down and ends his turn. Brandon draws from his deck, and Ben immediately activates one of his set cards – Ceasefire! Brandon currently controls Abyss Dweller, Number 16: Shock Master, and Inzektor Dragonfly. Ben controls two Wattgirafes. This is 2500 damage to Brandon, winning Ben the match!

Dispite holding the advantage most of the game, Brandon loses to a surprise Trap card – Ceasefire! Brandon controlled the game with Royal Decee, Prophibition, and Number 16 Shock Master, but was unable to stop Ben’s direct attacks and Ben takes Watts to the Finals!
